So the subject of abortion came up in my AP Government class the other day, as more of a side note, but it got me thinking and this is what I thought.
I am Pro choice but, not the choice you are thinking of, a different choice. I am all for choosing for yourself whether or not you commit the act that creates the problem of abortion. If you wanna use abortion as a form of birth-control know that you are striping a child of life. Your choice to not be abstinent is yours, but be prepared for the consequences, a child. Having a child after intercourse is not a choice but a required process, we all learned about it in fifth grade family science class. You may think that having a child is too much of a consequence for what you did, but if you truly understood the sacred nature of creating life you would not throw it away so easily.
The only reason abortion should be aloud is if the mother will die because of the child or if she was raped. The sad thing is only about 15%-18% of people who get abortions do it for this reason. the others just do it because it will save themselves from embarrassment or because it is too inconvenient to have a child at the moment. And that is what kills me, that level of selfishness that is so prominent in the American culture. It is simply too ugly to be had. That child is not the one to be blamed, to be punished. What has happened to justice? What happened to being strong? What happened to being moral? What has happened to the basic structure of integrity that once founded our nation? Now, if you have these things in your heart and you act upon them, you are not only a hero, but a super hero because the standard for morality has become so low.
